Kristaps dancing… and also some quick thoughts on why the Knicks Trade Deadline inactivity is a GREAT sign for them moving forward

And the updated version from @KennyDucey:
Just when I thought it was impossible to love Kristaps any more. Just when I thought my loved had plateaued. Just when I started to lower my expectations for the rest of the season, knowing these last 30 games are just a training ground for KP to figure out what he needs to improve on over the summer to come back and make the leap next season.
This.
I can’t even put this into words. I’ve watched the Kanye version like 30 times in the last 15 minutes. It’s magical. That face he makes when the beat drops? It’s priceless. You can’t teach that face. And you can’t teach those moves to a 7’3 man either. You just have em or you don’t. And KP has them. What a way to close out this Friday.
P.S. The guy doing the air split is Willy Hernangomez. KP’s old Sevilla teammate who’s rights the Knicks own and who can apparently ball.
I know it sucks to see the Knicks do nothing at the deadline. It turns out Carmelo doesn’t really love New York as much as he says he does. But whatever. I’m actually happy with the inactivity. It’s a HUGE win not trading the 2018 first rounder or Hernangomez, who apparently drew big interest in trade talks.
I said this back when Kristaps was drafted, and it’s the same idea here. This shows how committed the Knicks are to the long-term build. The Melo situation is a sunk cost. He’s here, and he’s not moving. There’s nothing we can really do about that. So the fact that Phil is committed to gradually building around KP by keeping his picks and young assets, rather than hastily dumping assets to be “good now” with Melo, is a huge win for this franchise. We’re building outside the scope of “Melo’s prime”. Trading Jerian, Hernangomez, and a future pick for Teague would’ve been another short-sighted move to send us right back into that same spiral of the Isiah deal. Doing nothing is actually progress for the Knicks. I’m all for that.
P.P.S. I might turn around and bang out a quick blog about Jimmer. But if not, I might as well leave this here. JIMMERMANIA IS HERE BABY
