This blog really just goes out to everyone who has watched O.J. Made In America on the WatchESPN App.
Look, I love the Bourne movies. Arguably the most underrated action movie franchise out there. Wildly entertaining, extremely rewatchable. Great movies. The new one? It looks awesome. I saw the first trailer and couldn’t WAIT to go see it.
But by the time I finish this O.J. thing, I don’t know if I’ll even want to watch it. That’s not an exaggeration or an overreaction or anything. I’m just so sick of this ad. It’s killing me. Maybe it’s the cheesy way this guy (above) says “MY GOD, that’s Jason Bourne”… Maybe it’s Matt Damon lying through his fucking teeth that’s he’s approached more about “another Bourne movie” than he is with Good Will Hunting quotes and tearful hugs telling him it’s not his fault… Maybe it’s the gut wrenching reminder that every movie reboot or sequel Hollywood does these days turns out to be wildly underwhelming.
Or maybe it’s just the association with this O.J. thing – which, as anyone who’s been watching will agree, is the darkest shit you will ever see.
You know what… the more I think about it… yeah, that’s probably what it is.
This O.J. shit is just so dark. Anything and everything associates with it, I’m gonna view that as dark too. I mean, don’t get me wrong, this is incredibly well done. The best thing ESPN has ever made. I could watch 10 more hours of this. But it’s just so dark. I don’t even know if I can write about it when it’s done. I can’t take my eyes off it, but I don’t totally even know how to formulate the right reaction to it. It just keeps getting darker and darker and– MY GOD… THAT’S JASON BOURNE
