Have A Night Marc Gasol

A career-high 42 points. 19 in the first quarter. And the deciding free throws in the last minute to secure the W.

In my eyes Marc has been the best center in the league. I understand the outrageous numbers Davis is posting. And I’m as big a fan of Boogie as anyone. But what Gasol does for this Memphis team on both sides of the ball can’t possibly be overstated. He controls the flow of the game unlike anyone else from the center position. He can do it defensively, as a passer, on the boards, or, like last night, as one of the elite scoring centers in the game. Post moves, running floaters, midrange, beyond the arc. He has it all. He’s the rock, the foundation of this team. And if we’re doing All-NBA teams right now he’s my first team center.

Have A Night Boogie Cousins

That’s no disrespect to Boogie, because Boogie is absolutely remarkable man. What a night last night. 28-11-9, one assist shy of a triple double. Had a beautiful pass to Cauley-Stein to cut Cleveland’s lead to one at the time, then came back down and scored the game-tying layup over Tristan Thompson and Lebron James to send it to overtime. And sealed the game with this look to Afflalo with 17 on the clock.

I don’t think Boogie is getting traded at this point. They’ve talked contract extension, and Sacramento has to realize that nothing they get in return will be equal value. Let’s just hope they figure something out around him.#BoogieForver

Have A Night Isaiah Thomas

Another night, another outrageous performance from Isaiah Thomas. 38-9-5 on 55% shooting. Getting anywhere and everywhere he wants on the court. Scoring over guards, scoring over forwards, scoring over center. And of course absolutely burying the Rockets down the stretch.

It’s looking more and more ridiculous by the day that he wasn’t voted an All Star Starter in the East. He’s been the best guard in a very crowded field in the East, and his name should abso-goddamn-lutely be in the MVP discussion after what he’s done these last two months.

Game Of The Night

There are legitimately too many to choose from. Kings-Cavs, Griz-Raptors, Warriors-Hornets, Bucks-Sixers. This was what my computer looked like last night. Four down to the wire games on League Pass, all in addition to what was then a three point game with 2:45 left on ESPN between the Hornets and Warriors. Wild, wild night around the association. And a shining example of how badly we need some type of NBA Red Zone Channel. ARE YOU LISTENING ADAM SILVER?

Around The Association

Savage.

(The whole Cleveland thing deserves it’s own blog that I’ll have up later. For now, HOLD. THIS. L.)

Half-crippled Half-amazing. The fact that Vince is still doing it at a more-than-respectable level right now is one of the more amazing stories in the NBA. He’s still so damn good and so capable of moments of brilliance and he’s like 40-years-old. Incredible to watch.

Rooms are filling up pretty quickly on Waiters Island baby. Get in while you still can.

Someone get Wayne Ellington his papers man. Dudes gotta go after this.

Ho hum another triple double for Russy

Wow Dwight grow up dude

(anyone else in the league this is great)

Australia Day. So much grit. So much heart

Malcolm Brogdon is out do dunk on this entire league

GOT EM

Dwyane Wade hit a career milestone. The Bulls then lost and Wade proceeded to call out his team for not caring enough. Things are looking great in Chicago!

But hey at least it’s not as bad as it is in New York!

This team STINKS. They don’t care. Kristaps is still hurt. Melo is pretty understandably distracted by all this trade talk. Derrick Rose is AWFUL and maybe my least favorite Knick in 20 years and if I have to hear him talk about the team’s “defensive problems” costing them when he is the worst, laziest defender in the ENTIRE NBA I’m gonna lose my goddamn mind. More on the Melo-Love thing to come later.
