The Wizards Are Wore All Black To Their Game Against The Celtics, Calling It “A Funeral”

For those unaware, the Wizards and Celtics hate each other. Hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE each other. It’s a beef that stems back to last season from a minor altercation between Jae Crowder and then-Wizards Coach Randy Whitman, and then was amplified with Crowder’s quotes regarding the Celtics addition of Al Horford this summer:

“He’s a perfect fit,” said Crowder. “That’s what we were telling him. He had Washington and some other teams looking at him, but we beat them four times this year. You don’t want to go there.”

Since then, that intensity of that beef has multiplied tenfold in each of the teams two meetings this season.

John Wall was ejected from their first meeting, a game they won handedly, for this Flagrant Two foul on Marcus Smart.

It then escalated in their last meeting when Wall and Jae Crowder go into it after the buzzer. An altercation that included some mutually disrespect in a nose poke and a love-tap slap

All resulting in some extra post game shouting in the tunnel.

So here we are tonight. A casual, low-key Tuesday in January. A game that didn’t even crack the NBATV schedule, let alone a National Audience. And it’s now become the must watch game of the season.

Wall, Bradley Beal, and the Wizards threatened to show up in All Black — a move reserved for postseason close-out games and the Giants defeating the 18-0 New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII hey guys remember that? — to a Tuesday night January basketball game.

And guess what? They did just that

I got that Patriots Super Bowl dig in there for two reasons. 1) Because I’ll take any change to mention that. And 2) because I had to get some Boston slander in before rooting my absolute heart out for the Celtics tonight.

I hope they win by 50. I hope this is the most embarrassing defeat since the Wizards changed their name from the Bullets. I hope John Wall and Bradley Beal combine for 7 points and 1 assist. I hope Isaiah Thomas runs circles around them. And while I hate Marcus Smart and Jae Crowder as much as anyone in this league, I hope they lock the Wiz down like Michael and Scottie playing Tony Kukoc in the Olympics.

I’m here for this Wizards funeral move. I love anything that promotes NBA beef and spices up and random Tuesday in January. But I’m also here for the team that does that to have it thrown right tf back in their faces.

Let’s Go Celtics

P.S.   Palate-cleanser
