ESPN — Colin Kaepernick is now the most disliked player in the NFL. That’s at least according to a recent poll of Americans by E-Poll Marketing Research, which asked 1,100 people whose demographics were representative of the general population.
The poll, taken last week, revealed that Kaepernick was “disliked a lot” by 29 percent of those polled, more than any of the more than 350 players asked about in the survey. Kaepernick finished ahead, in the dislike category, of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston (22 percent), Miami Dolphins defensive end Ndamukong Suh (21 percent), New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (13 percent) and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (10 percent).
Wow and no love the Mongolian coaches who stripped naked to protest in front of The Rings at the Olympics? Learn your history, TIME Magazine. Mongolia Stripped So That Kaepernick Could Kneel. I guess some people appreciate that more than others.
But real talk, can we talk about polls for a second?
Who the fuck takes part in polls? Shit, what even are polls? How do they even work? Is this a door-to-door thing? A phone call thing? Is it digital? Do pollsters just round up large swaths of Americans and throw them in a room and hope they’ve caught a diverse enough collection?
And who is taking part in these polls? Who is taking the time of day to answer polling questions? Wouldn’t that mean that polling is really only made up of people who still use landlines and people who are dumb enough to answer the door for someone with a clipboard? Are we just relying on that collection of human beings to give us an accurate portrayal of the political leanings of the entire country?
I mean how in the absolute fuck are polls representative of the general public? How is that possible? I thought we were all unique snowflakes. How are the 1000 people who take part in these polls an accurate snapshot of the country?
Or maybe that’s just it… maybe these things are accurate because the only people crazy enough to take part in polls are the people with strong political leanings. Is that why this makes sense? Is that why they’re always accurate? Because the only people who vote are the people who care about politics and the people who care about politics are the only ones weird enough to take time out of their day to answer polling questions.
Nah, fuck that. I don’t believe it. I think polling is all a scam. I think one person makes up a number and everyone else just kind of tinkers with that number to make it look like they polled people too. “Oh you have Clinton at 43.4 and Trump at 41.9… well… I… have… Clinton at 43.1… and Trump at… 42 point… 42.5… yes, 42.5… and Harambe at 6.9… because then the internet will retweet my poll more times than it retweets yours. Hah.”
That’s it. That’s the only plausible explanation in my mind for how polling works. Fuck this politics stuff anyway. Back to sports.
