You’d be hard pressed to find a better guy to ever lead your franchise than Tom Coughlin. Sure there are better technical coaches out there. Better X’s and O’s guys, better talent evaluators, better clock and timeout managers. But there isn’t a coach out there as a leader of men more than I trust Tom Coughlin.
Now, does that always result in winning? Not necessarily. Being the better person and leader doesn’t always win you Championships. And there are plenty of other factors that go into winning football games outside of character and toughness. Things like having actual talent on the field, which the Giants front office didn’t provide for Tom at all these last three years outside of Eli and Odell. Things like managing the clock and not committing a billion penalties matter too. But from a character and leadership standpoint, you won’t find a better coach than Tom Coughlin. This speech, and the outpouring of love from his current and former players, perfectly exemplifies why that’s true.
