There you have it. 12 seasons, 2 Super Bowls, and one of the wildest roller coasters any franchise has ever ridden in one decade. No franchise has hit the peaks and valleys that the Giants have over the last twelve years. We’ve experienced some of the worst, most heartbreaking losses imaginable, along with some of the best wins any franchise could ever hope for, including two of the four or five greatest wins in NFL history. We were capable of going 5-11 or 11-5 at any given moment, and never was that more on display than with 8 losses of 6 or less points this season. EIGHT!
It’s been an absolute roller coaster from start to finish, and I wouldn’t trade that run for the world.
This news obviously doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The Coughlin Era had just run it’s course. It was time for the franchise to move forward and rebuild. It’s nothing against him, it just is what it is. This is how the NFL works. Getting 12 years from a coach is remarkable, and attempting to extend that run as Tom turns 70 next year just doesn’t make sense. The whole franchise just needed a facelift, from the coaching staff to the front office. And while Reese and the front office are absolutely more to blame for the lack of talent and depth on this team, Tom was obvious first piece to be removed. You give Tom his day, let him leave with some dignity, then clear out Reese, Abrams, Ross, and anyone making personnel decision who’s last name isn’t Mara once the dust has settled. As soon as that’s done, we can start to speculate of who *cough* David Shaw *cough* should come in here next.
For now, big shouts to Tommy C and everything he’s done. Easily the craziest, most up and down run any franchise has every experienced. And like I said, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Thanks Tom, I’ll always miss that frostbitten face.

If this is true I’ll light myself on fire. You absolutely cannot keep the GM that produced this roster. So, so, so stupid. I’ll wait until there’s more here, but the potential of this just ruined my day.
